Privacy Policy

AI Job Assistant ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps job seekers automatically evaluate job listings on LinkedIn and Naukri using AI. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Data We Collect

The Extension collects the following data:

• Resume Summary: A plain-text summary you manually enter in the Profile tab. Used locally to evaluate job matches.
• Target Roles and Locations: Job preferences you enter. Used to guide the bot's job search.
• API Keys: Optional API keys for OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic that you enter in Settings. Stored locally on your device only.
• Job Listings: Title, company, description, and URL of jobs scraped from LinkedIn and Naukri while the bot is running. Processed locally and not sent to any server unless you enable profile sharing.
• Matched Jobs: Jobs evaluated as a match are saved locally in your browser's storage.
• Profile Data (optional): If you enable "Share Anonymized Profile", your resume summary, target roles, locations, skills, and optionally name, email, and phone are sent to our backend server for inclusion in a recruiter-facing candidate database.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Resume summary and job data are used locally to evaluate job fit using AI.
• If profile sharing is enabled, your anonymized profile is stored in our database and made searchable by recruiters.
• We use Groq's API (via our backend proxy) and/or a self-hosted Ollama instance to process AI requests. Job descriptions and your resume summary are sent to these services for evaluation. No data is retained by these services beyond the request.
• We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. Data Storage

• Local storage: All settings, API keys, saved jobs, and session logs are stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device only.
• Backend server: If you opt in to profile sharing, your anonymized profile (excluding PII unless you provide it) is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway.app.
• PII (name, email, phone) is only stored if you explicitly provide it and is masked by default from recruiters until they spend an event credit to reveal it.

4. Data Sharing

Your data may be shared with the following parties:

• Groq (api.groq.com): Job descriptions and resume summaries are sent via our backend proxy for AI evaluation. Groq's privacy policy applies: groq.com/privacy-policy
• Railway.app: Our backend server is hosted on Railway. Profile data (if sharing is enabled) is stored here. Railway's privacy policy: railway.app/legal/privacy
• Recruiters: If you opt in to profile sharing, anonymized profile data (role, skills, location) is visible to recruiters using our platform. PII is only revealed upon your explicit consent and a recruiter spending an event credit.
• We do not share data with any other third parties.

5. Your Choices

• You can disable profile sharing at any time by unchecking "Share Anonymized Profile" in the Profile tab.
• You can clear all locally stored data via the "Clear History" button in Settings.
• You can uninstall the Extension at any time, which removes all locally stored data.
• To request deletion of your profile from our backend database, contact us at the email below.

6. Data Retention

Local data is retained until you clear it or uninstall the Extension. Backend profile data is retained until you request deletion.

7. Children's Privacy

This Extension is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
